Independent Clinics

The Support Group to Democracy (GAD), with the help of Dr. Alfredo Melgar has sponsored the creation of the Independent Clinics across Cuba with the purpose of providing free medical assistance to the victims of repression, political prisoners and their families, opposition groups and to any other Cuban  that requests medical  assistance.  Each Independent Clinic has been provided with medicines and medical equipment such as electrocardiogram machines, aerosol machines, electro massagers, wheelchairs and in Santiago de Cuba the clinic was provided with an exercise machine to provide cardiovascular therapy to patients that required this much needed care.
 
Goals:
 

·        To unravel the myth created by the Cuban Government Propaganda Machine that Cuba is a Medical Powerhouse.
 

 ·       To provide medicines and high quality medical treatment to the victims of repression, political    
       prisoners and their families, opposition groups and to the general population.

·         To provide an alternative way to the structural and administrative inefficiencies in the official medical assistance system.
 

·        To provide the doctors and medical personnel that administer the Independent Clinics with up to date information on the medical field that could help them better serve their patients.
