                             Independent Libraries

At the present time there are four different groups of Independent Libraries in existence inside the island.:

  1. The Independent Libraries Project
  2. The Independent Libraries Project of Cuba
  3. Bibliored
  4. Libraries that are not attached to any specific group

The Support Group to Democracy (GAD) following our policy of indiscriminate support to any valid project inside Cuba helps all  the libraries without taking in consideration the group they might belong to. The help is sent directly to the local library.

Many of the libraries have received books, TV sets, video equipment and short wave radios as part of the equipment that we consider necessary for them to work and function as a focal point of social and cultural activities in their respective communities. Also they have been provided with First Aid Kits with the same goal in mind.

In the many thousands of books and magazines that we have sent you would find the following topics:
Political, free markets Economies, history, national and universal literature, journalism, Labor and union issues, human rights, sociology, philosophy, psychology, computer and technology, accounting, self improvement, children  and such magazines in spanish as Geomundo, Newsweek, The Economist, Popular Mechanics, Reader's Digest, etc.......
