The Support Group to Democracy (GAD), with the help of Dr. Alfredo Melgar has sponsored the creation of the Independent Clinics across Cuba with the purpose of providing free medical assistance to the victims of repression, political prisoners and their families, opposition groups and to any other Cuban  that asks for assistance.
